Additionally, the wind pressure alone may cause water intrusion, even if the fastening system is in place: “The pressures created by a 100 mph wind will drive water about 3-1/2 inches up through any crack or opening anywhere on the roof, gable wall, or through the soffit,” according to Florida’s Division of Emergency Management. The pressures created by wind speeds of 150 miles per hour, on the other hand, may push water further into these vulnerable spots by as much as eight inches.
Additionally, greater cracks, punctures, and other rooftop openings in your Spanish tiles may be created by airborne debris.
